Background

"Sparky" was not his real name. The pseudonym was created during Sparky's time as a reporter during the Korean war, as an allusion to his red hair. "Mackle" may have been false as well - "mackle" can be found in the dictionary referring to blurred, almost doubled printing. The article he ran with the name received national syndication and he used the name ever since.

Death

Robin Matthews discovers Sparky's body. ("Sparky... No!")

In "Sparky... No!", Robin finds Sparky in his house, gagged and killed. There is a newspaper on top of him, and in Sparky's blood is written "Leave Island and Brent Dies."
