Name: Shane Pierce
Age: Unknown (Deceased)
Relationships: Kelly Seaver (Ex-girlfriend; Deceased)
Portrayed by: Ben Cotton

Shane Pierce was a local fisherman on Harper's Island, who worked with Jimmy Mance. He held resentment for almost everyone on the island for one reason or another, and had a history of violence. Shane is stabbed several times and killed by John Wakefield, and his body is hung as a warning to the others in "Splash".

Recent Events

In "Whap," Shane appears to have disdain for J.D. Dunn as he discusses the wedding party with Jimmy while cutting fish on Jimmy's boat. Shane warns Jimmy not to go back to Abby Mills, since she left without even giving Jimmy a "kiss goodbye in the rear-view mirror." Shane watches as Jimmy helps remove a piece of rope caught in the rudder of the Tarapunga. Later at the Cannery, J.D. talks with Shane's ex-girlfriend, Kelly Seaver, admiring one of her tatoos. Shane appears and makes fun of J.D. and Kelly, because they both had attempted suicide in the past. Shane and J.D. get into a fight.

Shane and Jimmy discover a message on Shane's truck. ("Crackle")

The next day ("Crackle"), as Abby stops to observe a deer while jogging in the woods, she is grabbed from behind by Jimmy, who covers her mouth so that Shane can shoot the deer with his bow. Furious, Abby stomps on Jimmy's toe and yells, causing Shane to miss. Jimmy and Shane discuss Abby as they walk back to Shane's truck, where they discover a dead deer on the hood, with the word "PSYCHO" written in its blood on the windshield. Later that day, as Abby and Kelly talk in the restroom at the Cannery, they are interrupted when Shane enters and makes fun of them, saying, "Aw, John Wakefield murdered my mommy... Wah wah, boo hoo." That evening, at the bonfire party, when Shane and Jimmy arrive, Henry Dunn punches Shane, suspecting him of putting a severed deer head in the bathtub in his cabin.

Sheriff Mills questions Shane. ("Ka-Blam")

In "Ka-Blam", as J.D. walks through the woods listening to his iPod, he is hit by Shane's truck. Sheriff Mills visits Shane at his house and asks if he has seen J.D. After the Sheriff leaves, Shane opens the back of his truck, where J.D. is tied up, and Shane accuses him of murdering Kelly. After talking with Kelly's friend, Nikki Bolton, who mentions that Shane had hurt Kelly in the past, Abby goes to Shane's house to question him. She finds J.D. in a shed, bound and gagged, with a noose around his neck, his feet barely supported by a chair. Shane arrives, and, in order to buy some time, Abby goes off on a tangent about how Wakefield killed Kelly. Sheriff Mills arrives, and, in the scuffle, J.D. is knocked off the chair. Shane grabs J.D. as Abby runs to cut the rope holding him up, saving him. Shane is arrested, but Abby tells her father that she believes Shane to be innocent.

"Gurgle" sees Shane still in jail, pleased to be joined by J.D., after J.D.'s arrest by Sheriff Mills as the suspected killer. Shane taunts J.D., suggesting it would be better if J.D. were dead, and Shane attacks him. Deputy Garrett enters the holding area, warning Shane to be quiet. The lights in the station go out, and Garrett is shot in the back. The shortwave radio is heard chattering and another shot silences it. The lights come back on and J.D. retrieves Garrett's keys, letting himself out. J.D. tosses the keys down next to Garrett's body, ignoring Shane's pleas to be set free. Abby and Jimmy go to the Sheriff's station to use the shortwave, but they discover that it has been destroyed. Shane yells and they nervously go to the holding area. As they enter, Jimmy slips in a pool of Deputy Garrett's blood. Shane bargains with Abby to let him out in exchange for the information about where Sheriff Mills went.

Shane pulls his shotgun on Sully. ("Seep")

In "Seep", Shane arrives at the Candlewick Inn and takes Trish, Shea, Katherine, Beth, Danny, and Sully hostage. Henry appears and points his shotgun at the back of Shane's head as Danny and Sully disarm him and shove him into a corner. Henry questions Shane, who suggests that the killer may be one of the wedding party. Henry gives Shane the choice between being locked outside and helping him lock up. Shane chooses the latter. When Abby discovers that she may be Wakefield's daughter, Shane overhears and spreads this news to the rest of the group, prompting Henry to argue loudly with him. When Shane denies Abby reentry to the Candlewick, Henry starts a fight with Shane. After the others break up the fight, they realize that Beth is missing. While the others search, Shane sits at the bar. Shane convinces Trish to stay at the Candlewick rather than going outside to look for Shea, but Trish later steals Shane's truck to find Shea. As Shane sits at the bar with Katherine, he asks, "So, you're like one of the bridesmaids?" Katherine replies, "I'm Trish's step-mom," and Shane says, "Wow... so you're like a trophy wife?" Katherine responds, "I was," and Shane says, "Oh... right." Shane drinks a shot, and then asks, "So did he leave you like a zillion dollars?" Katherine walks away. As Shane carves his name into the bar, he is confronted by Maggie Krell. Shane continues carving, saying, "You really think anyone's ever gonna stay here again."

Shane discovers Katherine has been murdered. ("Seep")

After Abby becomes separated from the others by a falling grate, Henry and Jimmy return to the lobby to ask Shane for the tools he keeps in his truck. Shane reveals that Trish had taken the truck earlier. As they search for tools in the Inn's kitchen, the truck pulls up with Trish, Shea, Abby, and Madison inside, and everyone except Shane and Katherine run outside to meet them. Shane watches everyone reunite from the Inn's solarium. He attempts to wake up Katherine to see Madison, before noticing blood pooling below her. In "Snap," Shane takes Henry to Katherine's body, stating that she was still warm when he checked for a pulse. Henry asks Jimmy to ready his boat for everyone to leave the Island, and Jimmy leaves with Shane to gas up.

The gas reservoirs at the marina ignite. ("Snap")

Jimmy and Shane arrive at the marina, noting the state police's floatplane. They tie up the boat near a gas pump, only to find the pump not working due to the power outage. Shane heads to the generator nearby, noting an oxygen tank. Shane discovers the dead state police officers in the water. Jimmy yells for Shane to fire up the generator. Shane starts the generator, which sparks at him, and he yells at Jimmy to get away from the pump. The gas reservoirs all over the marina ignite, destroying all the boats. As the group comes under sniper fire, they all retreat to the Cannery. Abby questions why Shane didn't warn Jimmy, but Shane says he tried. Shane relays the news about the dead state police officers. Fingers are pointed at Sheriff Mills, and Shane mentions the oxygen tank near the generator.

As the group waits for nightfall, Henry confronts Shane about his attitude, and Shane asks Henry why he would want to come to the island to get married. Henry muses that he's having second thoughts. The group discusses plans for using the sailboat that Cal and Chloe had rented, and Sully and Cal Vandeusen volunteer to get it. To create a diversion, Shane helps make Molotov cocktails at the bar using liquor bottles and dish soap. Shane reminds them to use rum for the wicks. Later, the Sheriff's SUV arrives with its flashers on, carrying an unconscious Jimmy on the hood. The vehicle leaves, and Henry and Shane bring Jimmy inside. Danny discovers a set of keys to a room at the Candlewick taped to Jimmy's hand, and Abby notices that they are to her room, #209. Trish states that it's a sign telling Abby to go to the Inn, and Abby agrees. Henry refuses to let her leave, but Abby insists. Shane gives Abby his shotgun as she leaves.

Shane faces Wakefield. ("Splash")

In "Splash," John Wakefield breaks into the Cannery and kills Nikki. After ushering the others out of the room, Shane fights with Wakefield. Chloe, Shea, and Madison begin climbing out a bathroom window, while Trish covers the bathroom door with a shotgun. Shane valiantly attempts to protect the others using a simple fishing knife against Wakefield's two-foot boarding knife.

Death

Shane is found strung over an oar in The Cannery. ("Splash")

Wakefield wounds Shane in the arm, but Shane continues to swing his knife at Wakefield. Wakefield taunts Shane and then stabs him through his stomach, leaving him for dead. Wakefield goes after the others, breaking into the bathroom, cornering Trish, but Shane appears, distracting Wakefield, allowing Trish to escape. Wakefield then finishes Shane off, and strings his body up over an oar in the Cannery. Shane's body is later found by Henry, Abby, and Danny, as the song "Brandy, You're a Fine Girl" by Looking Glass plays on the jukebox. They pull his body down, covering it with a nearby blanket. Shane's murder proves wrong Danny's earlier speculation that, now that Sheriff Mills is dead, Wakefield is finished killing.
