Madison Allen is the daughter of Richard and Shea Allen and the granddaughter of Thomas Wellington. She was to be the flower girl in the wedding of her aunt, Trish Wellington, and Henry Dunn. Madison is one of only a few survivors of the Harper's Island killing spree.
On the Island
In "Whap", as the boat, the Tarapunga, taking the wedding party to Harper's Island is boarding in Seattle, Madison plays the bloody-finger-in-a-box trick on two of the bridesmaids, who scream, causing Shea to scold her. Later, on the Island in the gardens of the Candlewick Inn, Madison attempts to burn a snail with a magnifying glass. That evening, Madison tears the tag from a gift bag for Cousin Ben and takes the bag. Later that night, Madison walks up to her sleeping parents. She tells her mother that she has made a new friend on the Island, who told her that people have died there.
In "Bang," Madison accompanies Shea to meet with Karena Fox, a psychic she has arranged to entertain the guests at the bachelorette party. Madison begins playing with Karena's tarot cards. When Shea tells her to stop, Karena says that it's OK and that Madison has a "lively spirit." Madison asks if the Tower card means that someone is going to die. Madison steals the card while Karena is distracted. Later, when Shea surprises Trish with their late mother's tea set that she has had shipped from Palm Beach, a cup breaks near Madison, but she claims not to be responsible. Not long afterward, Maggie Krell pulls Trish and Shea away from the rest of the women to the patio to find all of their mother's china shattered. Shea suspects Madison may be responsible. Abby Mills goes to look for Madison, and finds her sitting on the floor playing with flower petals, chanting, "one by one." Madison tells Abby that the spirits told her that she wouldn't get to be a flower girl.
In "Thwack," Madison meets up with J.D. Dunn, and the two play a prank on Maggie and Henry by throwing firecrackers from the hotel balcony. Later, Madison visits J.D. in his room, attempting to convince him to pull more pranks with her, but the conversation quickly turns to disliking family members. After finding a dead racoon in the Church, Henry suspects J.D. and questions Madison about J.D.'s whereabouts. Madison lies, telling Henry she hasn't seen J.D. Later, at the wedding rehearsal, Thomas brings Madison with him to the front of the Church to rehearse lighting the unity candle. Thomas is struck and killed by a head spade falling from a booby-trapped chandelier, as Madison screams.
In "Sploosh", as the traumatized wedding party is escorted back to the Candlewick, Madison sees J.D. hiding behind a tree outside the Church. At the Inn, Shea tearfully brushes Madison's hair, observing that this always makes her feel better. The Sheriff questions Madison as they play cards. When Sheriff Mills asks Madison about her father's whereabouts earlier in the day, Madison tells Mills that Richard was with her. Madison later asks Shea if Richard will be proud of her for lying to the Sheriff. After Sheriff Mills locks J.D. in the Inn's pantry to prevent him from digging up John Wakefield's grave, Madison lets J.D. out. She explains that she was able to get the key because "no one pays attention to kids." J.D. leaves and Madison kicks the cans that J.D. has been stacking down. Later that night, as Richard talks to his attorney on his cell phone by the Inn's pool, he sees Madison playing cards through the window, and he is impaled through the chest by a harpoon. Madison seemingly looks at Richard, and he calls her name before being pulled abruptly backward. Inside, Madison is seen looking at her reflection in the glass, rubbing her cheek as though she has something on it.
In "Thrack, Splat, Sizzle", Madison receives a note, seemingly from her father. She follows the instructions on the note and goes to a room in the Inn. The door slams behind her as she enters. Shea later notices Madison is missing and begins to suspect Richard has taken her ("Gurgle"). A search for Madison commences, and as Henry, Katherine, and Abby find Richard's body, Madison calls Abby Mills on her cell phone, saying that if anyone leaves the island, Madison will die.
In "Seep", as Abby searches for Beth Barrington in a series of underground tunnels beneath the Candlewick, she becomes separated from the others by a falling grate while crawling through a small tunnel. Abby finds herself in another larger tunnel where she passes through a door and discovers Madison sleeping in a furnished room. The two begin to make their way out of the tunnels, climbing a ladder to a manhole grate. Madison tries to lift the grate, but it is too heavy. She sees headlights, and she tries to signal the vehicle.
Approaching the manhole are Trish and Shea who are returning to the Candlewick in Shane Pierce's truck. The truck drives over the manhole, and Madison's hand pops out of the grate. Shea looks into the side mirror, noticing Madison's hand, and tells Trish to stop. Shea and Trish run to Madison, and Shea grabs her hand. After Trish and Shea rescue Madison and Abby, they return to the Candlewick, and the others run out to meet them. Madison asks Abby if she liked the game, stating the man who took her said Abby would like it. When Abby asks Madison who kidnapped her, she replies, "Your dad, Abby... You know, the Sheriff."
After Katherine is found dead, the group prepares to leave the Island in Jimmy Mance's boat. When the Marina explodes, the group takes cover at The Cannery ("Splash"). Abby brings Madison some tea and questions her about her kidnapper. Shea yells at Abby to stay away from Madison. Later, Shea asks Madison about John Wakefield, learning how he befriended Madison. Madison asks about her father, and Shea confirms that he was murdered. When Madison asks if Abby is going to die because of her, Shea assures Madison that Abby is going to be fine.
Wakefield breaks into the Cannery and kills Nikki Bolton. Shane fights with Wakefield, as Chloe, Shea, and Madison climb out a bathroom window, while Trish covers the bathroom door with a shotgun. Trish leads the group into Charlie Mills's Attic, securing the stairs behind them. When they hear the churchbell ring, Trish and Chloe assume that it may be a signal for help from the others, and they head to the Church, leaving Shea and Madison in the attic.
After Madison begins rummaging through Sheriff Mills's files, Shea scolds her, but then realizes that Madison has found a file on Jimmy. In the file, Shea discovers an arrest report in which Jimmy is questioned regarding a murder in Seattle. After Wakefield is captured ("Gasp"), Abby retrieves Shea and Madison from the attic and brings them to the Sheriff's office. Madison talks to Sully as he examines the broken radio. As Shea sleeps, Madison sneaks into the holding area to see Wakefield. Madison emerges from the holding area, telling Abby that Wakefield wants to see her. When Henry tells the group that Trish and Jimmy are missing, Shea mentions Jimmy's criminal record, causing everyone to suspect him. As the remainder of the group leave to rescue Trish at the bluffs, Danny Brooks remains with Shea and Madison at the Sheriff's office. Danny brings out food, and Madison mentions that she ate in the tunnels, and that someone else brought the food down to them. Danny brings a blanket to Shea and Madison, and questions Madison about Wakefield's accomplice. Meanwhile, Wakefield has managed to escape his bindings. As Danny and Madison play cards while discussing Hansel and Gretel, Wakefield emerges from the holding area and pulls a belt around Danny's neck. Shea runs to Madison as Danny attempts to fight Wakefield off. Shea prepares to shoot Wakefield as Danny manages to free himself by hitting Wakefield with a phone. Danny grabs the gun, telling Shea to run. Shea runs out with Madison as Wakefield fights with Danny.
Shea and Madison meet up with Abby and Jimmy in the woods, telling them of Wakefield's escape and Danny's bravery. Abby sends Shea and Madison to the boathouse to let the Coast Guard know about Wakefield. Jimmy gives Shea his rifle before they part ways. Shea and Madison arrive at the boathouse and inform Sully that Wakefield has escaped ("Sigh"). He asks about Danny, and Shea informs him that Danny fought off Wakefield to help them escape. Sully notes the boat hanging in the boathouse and decides to use it to leave the Island. Sully launches the boat into the water and attempts to rev up the engine. Shea begs Sully to join them, but he refuses. Shea attempts to turn back as well, but Sully reminds her to think of Madison first, and he pushes the boat forward. Sully then radios the Coast Guard, telling them to be on the lookout for Shea and Madison heading East from Harper's Island in a small boat.
Sometime later, Shea and Madison sit in a conference room in the Seattle FBI field office. Agent Perez takes Madison outside as Agent Hanson tells Shea that Trish, Henry, Abby, and Jimmy have been discovered dead in the charred remains of the Church, and that, after an extensive investigation, over 20 bodies have been found on the Island.
