Katherine Wellington was married to Thomas Wellington and was step-mother to Trish and Shea. Katherine was murdered in "Seep."

On the Island

In "Whap," Katherine is seen on the Tarapunga, posing for a Wellington family photo. In "Ka-Blam," Katherine enters her room at the Candlewick Inn and discovers a shotgun on the bed. Richard Allen appears behind her, threateningly. He instructs her to take off her blouse. When she complies, Richard pushes her to the floor and removes his belt. He tells her to do as he says, to which Katherine replies "I've been very bad." Later, in "Bang," Trish hunts for Katherine and hears cries coming from the Inn's cellar. She discovers Richard and Katherine together and leaves. Trish later tells Henry about Katherine and Richard having an affair. Trish smirks as Katherine gives the entire wedding party sweatshirts with Henry and Trish's names printed on them.

In "Thwack," on their walk through the woods, Trish reveals Katherine's affair to Thomas, who describes his relationship with Katherine as "more complicated than just love." Later, upon entering the Church for the wedding rehearsal, Katherine remarks that she almost wishes she and Thomas had gotten married in a large church ceremony. When Thomas comes to the front of the Church to rehearse lighting the unity candle, Katherine witnesses the death of her husband as he is impaled by a head spade falling from a booby-trapped chandelier.

In "Sploosh," Katherine is led out of the Church by Sheriff Charlie Mills. Later, Trish visits Katherine in her room and asks her about Richard's alibi for the time before Thomas's murder. Katherine tells Sheriff Mills how Richard had fantasized about taking over the company following Thomas's death, and she shows the Sheriff a stack of Wakefield articles she found in his briefcase. Trish suggests Richard used Wakefield as a cover to kill Thomas, but Sheriff Mills tells them to keep the idea to themselves.

In "Gurgle," Katherine helps search for Madison, along with Henry and Abby Mills. After searching a playground, they come to a small cove. Henry discovers a bloodied rope on the shore line and goes to investigate. At the other end, he finds Richard's body, impaled with a harpoon to a large tree stump. They return to the Inn to find phone service to the Island has been interrupted.

In "Seep", Katherine looks for Shea in the Inn, finding her upstairs looking through Madison's things. Katherine attempts to console Shea, and Shea angrily tells her to leave. When Shea later disappears, Katherine takes Trish to the last place Shea was seen. Trish discovers the tower card, and realizes that Shea has gone to see Karena Fox. Shane Pierce and Katherine tell Trish to stay put, and she agrees. As Shane and Katherine sit in the bar, Trish steals Shane's truck to find Shea. Shane attempts to converse with Katherine, but she leaves when he implies that she probably inherited a great deal of money on Thomas's death.

As Madison is reunited with the others, Shane watches from the solarium and attempts to alert a sleeping Katherine to the news. As he calls to her, he notices blood pooling below her body. A set of hedge trimmers is seen projecting from the back of her chair. Henry later announces to the others that he and Shane found Katherine dead ("Snap").
