My Dad used to say to me "Fresh starts are all about leaving the past behind and running towards the new present." That's what I'm hoping to do. That's what Harper's Globe is letting me do.
Hometown Press Inc. has hired me to bring the Internet to this sleepy newspaper. My job is to get all of the archived content uploaded onto the HarpersGlobe.com website, so you can have access to it. So here I am, reading everything, soaking it up, and posting it. My editor, Sparky Mackle, doesn’t think what I'm doing is important, but he's old school about things. Don't you want to know what's gone on here all these years?
When I get around to posting all this stuff (there is SO much to go through), you should definitely go through the site; I'm finding some really interesting things.
Some of you have asked how I got the job, and how I got here. Truth is, I don't really know. A letter arrived in the mail, I read it, next thing I know I'm on this Island. I was glad for the opportunity, cause I really needed a change. Some opportunities just come out of nowhere, you know. I've learned it's better not to question it, just jump in headfirst and hope for the best.
